The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) exercises a great impact on the ways people work, communicate and interact, and considerably contributes to learners? development of skills and construction of new knowledge. However, the use of Information and Communication Technology in itself cannot lead to the development of high-level skills and of critical thinking, if not combined with other appropriate teaching methods.
In the light of the above, the aim of the present research is to identify and record the beliefs that Primary Schools teachers have about the impact of Information and Communication Technology on the enhancement of critical thinking. 118 Primary School teachers from the island of Lesvos constituted the sample of the research. Basic skills, taught within the Greek educational context, which are considered to be the substantial core of the development of critical thinking, are discussed, as well as teacher? beliefs about the contribution of ICT to learning.
